I don't know why I am surprised.

I don’t know why I am surprised.

Sometimes the Army can be frustrating because the military has a career-progression model for officers that can feel strict, inflexible, and in all ways limiting. Although I have depicted the Transportation Corps branch in this art, I am only using that as an example. I think people can feel this way about whatever job they are in. Like they are stuck with it, maybe bound to it, and that it is in danger of dragging them down.

I think the take-away here is that you should enjoy aspects of your job. My entire time not spent in training or on deployment has not been enjoyable. Yet, the question is, “Why?” Is it part and parcel of being an officer? Or is it because of the particular field or branch or type of unit that I am in?
